Design State of the Union :: Web Trends

The lovely folks at Mashable have complied a list of web trends they want to disappear in 2013, and digital designers from around the world let out a resounding "Hell Yeah!" Mashable, you just GET US.

I was glad to see my personal UX pet peeves made the list: autoplay videos (#7) and automatic pop-ups when you're surfing on your mobile (#8). 

Despite their proven ineffectiveness, I still struggle with clients to steer them away from the beloved photo carousel. Clients see it so often it they think it must be a best practice, when in reality, it's just a people pleasing real estate saver. I'll be looking forward to seeing these practices become outdated.
